Shopify sellers in the U.S. and Germany now gain direct access to DHL’s global network—without the usual logistical headaches.

Merchants in the US and Germany can now access DHL’s global logistics services directly through Shopify Shipping—with broader rollout planned through 2026.

Cross-border shipping just got easier for Shopify sellers

On May 26, DHL Group announced an expanded partnership with Shopify that integrates DHL’s global shipping services directly into the Shopify Shipping platform. The integration is now live in the United States and Germany, with additional markets coming in 2025 and 2026.

The move allows Shopify merchants to access DHL’s logistics infrastructure—covering over 220 countries and territories—without needing to set up separate carrier accounts or manage external tools.

What the integration does

This isn’t a new DHL app or third-party plugin. It’s a built-in feature inside Shopify Shipping, giving merchants:

  • Direct access to DHL’s global delivery services
  • Built-in customs, duty, and tax compliance tools
  • Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) shipping options in the U.S., removing surprise import fees for customers

According to Shopify President Harley Finkelstein, the goal is to offer “a logistics solution that’s not just seamless, but scales with business.”

For merchants, that means less time spent configuring shipping rules and fewer issues at customs—especially for international orders.

Rollout plans for 2025–2026

Right now, the DHL integration is only available for merchants based in the U.S. and Germany. But Shopify says it will roll out support to more markets over the next 18 months, including:

  • Other key European ecommerce markets
  • Latin America and North America beyond the U.S.
  • Asia-Pacific, where cross-border growth continues to climb

The expansion comes on the heels of other recent Shopify logistics moves, such as the April 2025 Affirm partnership to bring Shop Pay Installments to more international markets.

What this means for operators

For ecommerce teams, the DHL integration offers a few practical benefits:

  • You don’t need to manually set up a DHL account or negotiate rates
  • International orders can move faster with fewer administrative hurdles
  • DDP helps reduce abandoned carts caused by unclear shipping costs

The key difference here is operational efficiency. If you’re already doing cross-border shipping—or plan to—you’ll likely spend less time on manual logistics and more time focusing on sales.

It won’t replace every 3PL or niche provider, but for merchants who want a reliable global carrier without the usual complexity, it’s a meaningful step forward.
